Colburn and Scott Ouftfitters is now booking and taking reservations for Mexico Coues deer hunts in the state for Sonora. Colburn and Scott Outfitters guides, Darr and Jay have both harvested Boone and Crockett record book Coues deer and have assisted many hunters to some very large Coues deer. We look forward to helping you find a giant buck! Now Booking for 2012-2013 hunts. Exact dates TBD but preliminary dates are January 5th-11th and January 13th-19th 2013. We focus on a high quality experience and harvesting big coues deer bucks. Our hunts are (7) seven full days of hunting. The price for our hunts are $4750.00 and that includes all food, transportation, gun permits and guide. We have access to many large ranches that have lots of trophy bucks. Colburn and Scott Outfitters had a great hunt Mexico Coues Deer hunt with the father son duo of Kit and Paul Critchlow. Kit was able to harvest this Coues deer buck that grossed right at 110. Over 100 coues deer bucks spotted in 5 1/2 days.

ARIZONA UNIT 9

Unit 9-This unit is very huntable, has pines and junipers, good concentrations of elk, this year there will be some big bulls harvested, hunters can expect to see bulls between 320-360 on a regular basis. Elk are vocal in morning and usually around water in evenings. A few giants will be taken this year on the archery and early muzzleloader hunts. The 2012 Archery season dates are September 14-27 and Early Rifle season dates September 28-October 4

ARIZONA UNIT 23

UNIT 23-All of our hunts in Unit 23 are conducted out of our base camp which is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house located in the heart of Unit 23. The house has showers, tv, comfortable beds and wireless internet service. Unit 23 is split into two units a North and a South
Unit 23 North Archery and Early Rifle- The terrain in this unit is not as physically challenging as 23 South, more accessible by roads, good bugling, hunters can expect to see 300-350 bulls on a regular basis, can be chaotic rutting action depending on the year. This unit will produce a few giants this year on the archery and early rifle hunts. 2012 Archery season dates Sept. 14-27 and Early Rifle Sept. 28-Oct 4.
Unit 23 South Archery- Extremely physical terrain, low densities of elk, not for your average joe hunter, lots of distance between bulls bugling, not big pockets of bugling bulls like other units but has some big boys, 300-350 bulls are seen everyday but not in as many numbers as other three units. This unit will produce a few giants this year. 2012 Archery Season dates Sept. 14-27
Unit 23 is our favorite for Late Rifle Elk Hunts 2012 Season Dates Nov. 30-Dec 6

ARIZONA UNIT 10

Unit 10-This vast terrain is very glassable, the unit consists of mainly all junipers, lots of bulls and few cows, hunters can expect to see bulls between 320-350 on regular basis. Elk are very callable in this unit, usually a bugling frenzy and lots of rutting chaos. Country is very huntable and a few giants will be taken on the archery and early rifle hunts. 2012 Archery Season Dates Sept 14-27 and Early Rifle Dates Sept 28-Oct 4

Michael Park's 435" AZ Archery Bull

Michael Park of Oregon harvested his 42nd elk with a bow on this hunt. It also happened to be his largest. Actually it was the largest bull shot on pubblic ground that year. Michael's bull grossed over 435 inches.

In 2009, Colburn and Scott Outfitters guide Darr Colburn helped hunter Tim Allen fulfill his dream of harvesting a 400 inch bull. Darr's brother Kirk's best friend Dustin Kuhn's had an archery tag in the same unit. Darr went to work glassing for those guys and found this giant bull as well. Here is Rick's account of his 2011 AZ, Unit 23 late hunt with Colburn and Scott Outfitters:

"I hunted with Colburn and Scott Outfitters for my Arizona Unit 23 Late Elk 2011. I arrived in Young, AZ the day before the season opener (Thanksgiving Day) what a surprise to find Darr Colburn preparing a turkey for the oven. Janis Putelis my guide arrived shortly after from his morning scout. After a great turkey dinner Janis took me scouting that evening we saw 4 bulls one that I decided to pass on. Darr’s client took this bull at 7:30 am opening morning (congratulation’s David). After Darr’s client killed I had both guy’s trying to find a bull for me (they are amazing with their optics). Our bad luck the weather was very warm and the elk went nocturnal but we still managed to find elk every day. Long story short I passed on some good bulls hoping for the monster, we looked on the map for anything with the name Devil in it thinking a monster would be living there. I killed my bull on the last day with a few hours left in the season, I am very happy with the bull I took knowing the effort Darr and Janis put into my hunt. I felt like I was hunting with friends and hope they feel the same. We named this elk the Devil’s Sphincter Bull. Thank You."

Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Hunts

2011 Season- Colburn and Scott Outfitters had the priviledge of guiding Mr. Donnie Young on the Arizona Super Big Game Raffle Desert sheep Tag. This tag is only valid in 9/10, 12, 13, 15, 16's. The sheep are the Nelsoni species. Donnie harvested a 9 year old ram that is the biggest ram harvested on this raffle tag since 1995. His ram is still awaiting the official score due to the drying period but should fall between 166-168 net. We scouted and hunted 25 days and saw over 115 rams.

In December of 2011 we were in Unit 44B South with friend Erik Swanson. Erik harvested a ram we nicknamed "Pinky". His ram official net Boone and Crockett score is 168 5/8 net. We have some great photos and video of Erik's book ram.

2010 Season-This hunt was a much anticipated hunt for Colburn and Scott Outfitters. Ron Arndorfer, from Wisconsin, had drawn a tag in the same unit as Glenn Hall did in 2009. Darr and I put in a bunch of time scouting throughout the summer and fall and saw lots of nice rams. We focused on one particular ram that we had seen in the 2009 season. He was nicknamed "LOGO Ram" by Glenn Hall's son Tyler. Ron was able to complete his Grand Slam by harvesting the LOGO ram. We were honored to be Ron's guides on this hunt. Ron's ram officially net scored 170 3/8 inches.

My friend Erik Swanson drew Unit 44B South. We had a great hunt and enjoyed many laughs with friends and family. Erik's ram was scored by the Game and Fish Dept. at 168 7/8 gross and 167 6/8 Net. Trent Swanson, Erik's brother was on the hunt and captured some great photos (see the trentswansonoutdoors watermark). We captured lots of good live pictures and video of Erik's ram that I nicknamed "Pinky". Congrats on a great ram Erik!
UPDATE: Erik's ram was just officially scored and it makes Boone and Crockett! It officially grosses 169 2/8 and nets 168 5/8.

Now booking 2012 Goulds Spring Turkey Hunts in Sonora, Mexico. We are offering two Gould's turkeys for the price of one at $2250.00 per hunter for two birds. Here are pics and video from our great hunt last year. Colburn and Scott Outfitters had a great hunt in 2011 in Sonora for Goulds Turkeys.
